1.0About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how CareScribe uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites, and how you can control them.

It applies to:

  • carescribe.io;
  • talk-type.com; and
  • caption-ed.com.

It should be read alongside the CareScribe Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally. Where cookies process personal data, that policy applies to the data as well as this one.

CareScribe Ltd is responsible for the cookies set on our websites. CareScribe Ltd is registered in England and Wales with company number 11309937, and its registered office is Unit 2.3 Temple Studios, Temple Gate, Bristol, England, BS1 6QA. Our registration number with the Information Commissioner's Office is ZA775354.

If you have a question about cookies on any of our websites, contact us at [email protected].

2.0What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember your choices, keep the site secure, and understand how the site is being used.

We also use similar technologies that do a comparable job, including pixels, tags and browser local storage. This policy refers to all of them as "cookies".

3.0The categories we use

We group the cookies on our websites into the following main categories:

  • Strictly necessary. Needed for the site to work: page navigation, session management, security and bot protection, essential form functionality, and recording your cookie choices. These are set without consent because the site cannot function without them. Cookies used for optional analytics or advertising associated with forms are not strictly necessary and require your consent.
  • Functional. Used to remember preferences and to support features such as embedded content and feedback tools, so you do not have to set your choices again. Used only with your consent.
  • Analytics. Used to understand how visitors find and use our sites, which pages are read, and where the sites could be improved. Used only with your consent.
  • Advertising and marketing. Used to measure the performance of our advertising, to recognise you across our sites, and to make the advertising you see on other platforms more relevant. Used only with your consent.

Your cookie settings panel shows the categories available on the site you are visiting. It may also include a Performance category for measuring and improving website performance. Any additional non-essential categories also require your consent.

Some cookies expire when you close your browser. Others last for a set period, which is shown in the cookie list described below.

4.0Who sets them

Cookies on our sites are set both by us and by providers we use to run, secure, measure and promote them. The providers used vary by website and feature and may include:

  • Cloudflare — security, bot protection and traffic routing.
  • Google reCAPTCHA — protecting forms from automated abuse.
  • Google Analytics — understanding site usage.
  • HubSpot — form handling and enquiry management, with optional analytics and attribution to understand how visitors reach us. Optional tracking requires your consent; you do not need to accept marketing cookies to use a form.
  • Hotjar — understanding how visitors use our pages, including session recording (see section 5.0).
  • Microsoft Clarity — understanding how visitors interact with our pages, including session recordings and heatmaps.
  • LinkedIn — analytics and advertising measurement.
  • Google Ads, Meta and Reddit — advertising measurement and marketing.
  • Ahrefs — website usage measurement.
  • YouTube — playing embedded videos, and tracking associated with that playback.
  • CookieYes — recording your cookie preferences.

The cookie settings panel on each website provides the cookie information maintained for that site. Providers and cookies may change, so consult the panel and the cookie list below for details.

5.0Session recording

Where enabled, we use Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our pages, for example through mouse movements, scrolling and clicks. This helps us identify pages that are confusing or difficult to use. These tools are used only with your consent to analytics cookies.

6.0The current cookie list

A list of the individual cookies recorded in CookieYes for each website, including their provider, purpose, category and duration, is available through that site’s cookie settings panel.

The cookie list displayed below relates to carescribe.io. For cookies used on talk-type.com or caption-ed.com, use the cookie settings control on that site.

We maintain these cookie details in CookieYes separately from the wording of this policy, so that the inventory can be updated as the cookies used on each site change.

If the cookie list does not appear below, it is currently unavailable. This does not mean that no cookies are used. Please try reloading the page or contact [email protected].

7.0Consent, and how we ask for it

When you first visit one of our websites, we ask whether you accept cookies that are not strictly necessary. Until you accept them, we do not set them.

You can accept some categories and refuse others, and refusing is as easy as accepting. Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent and cannot be switched off, because the site will not work without them.

Your choices apply to the site you make them on. Because our sites use separate domains, you may be asked again on another of our sites.

8.0Changing or withdrawing your choices

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings control on the relevant site.

When you withdraw consent on carescribe.io, we apply your new choices and reload the page to stop tracking tools that have already loaded. If reloading could discard information entered into a form, we warn you first. If you choose to finish or copy that information before reloading, some previously loaded tracking may continue until you reload or leave the page. Withdrawing consent does not undo processing that already took place while your consent was in force, and it may mean some parts of the site behave differently.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Browser controls will not always cover technologies other than cookies, and blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working, so the cookie settings control is the better route for choices about our sites.

Cookie settings require CookieYes to load. If the settings panel is unavailable, please try reloading the page or contact [email protected].

9.0International transfers

Some of the providers listed in section 4.0 are based outside the UK or transfer data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards described in the international transfers section of the CareScribe Privacy Policy.

10.0Managing cookies in your browser

Each browser handles cookies differently, and current guidance is published by the browser vendors themselves.

  • Chrome
  • Safari on Mac
  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge

If you use another browser, check its own support documentation.

11.0Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes to our websites, our tooling or the law. We will post the updated version and update the "Policy revision date" above.

12.0Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle cookies or personal data, contact us at [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office on 0303 123 1113 or through their website.
