What do you do at CareScribe?

Help people! I work in the exciting team that gets to know our potential customers, explores new markets, and finds exciting opportunities for growth. For me, the most rewarding part of my job is identifying those who will benefit the most from our fantastic products and seeing how much the tech can change their everyday lives. I chose to join the CareScribe Sales team because I am really driven by helping people and working on TalkType and Caption.Ed provides a really exciting and meaningful way to do that.

How did your past experiences lead you to your current position?

I have a really varied and diverse history of working in tech, from experience with business-critical software like Payroll to selling Martech solutions. I think what really drew me to CareScribe was not only the exciting, innovative startup atmosphere but also the mission behind the company. In my spare time, I volunteer for a local homeless charity, and CareScribe’s ‘tech for good’ approach really aligned with what’s important to me.

If you could change one thing about the sector we work in, what would it be?

I would say in a perfect world our software wouldn’t need to exist because the world would already be accessible to all.

If I weren’t so damn good at my job, I’d probably be…

An astronaut! Seriously, my youth was spent watching Red Dwarf, Star Wars, and Star Trek. As an adult, it hasn’t changed much.

If you were Prime Minister for the day what would you do?

I would put more restrictions on social media and try to reduce the impact it is having on our youth. With every day that passes, we become more aware of the damaging effect being constantly ‘switched on’ has on our physical and mental health.

What piece of music means the most to you?

Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata. I used to play the piano and I have just started again. Moonlight Sonato is both beautiful and ingrained in my muscle memory so it has helped me re-learn reading music.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

Music, gigs, festivals, charity work, eating, reading, more eating, activities with the family, and food!

What book or TV show would you recommend at the moment?

I am reading Dust at the moment, by Charles Pellegrino. I read it 25 years ago and it felt a tiny bit futuristic back then but now it feels a bit nostalgic. Apparently, Mr Pellegrino is the person who came up with the Jurassic Park dinosaur DNA theory. The book itself is an apocalyptic science fiction story about an extinction-level event. I would recommend it because whilst it is a story, it does talk about the importance of the role insects play in the food chain, and what could happen if they disappeared.

What advice would you give a candidate who wants to join our team of superstars?

I would say that good lunch takeaway recommendations are a big plus for the team here. Turn up with a box of Doughnuts, and you’re in!

What’s the best thing about working at CareScribe?

Everyone is just super lovely and focused on the main goal of helping as many people as possible.
